P-TEM Survey:

Over 200,000 miles of survey lines have been run in productive areas, both on land and over the sea. Pinemont Technologies developed the survey in 2000-2001, and first employed the survey in 2002. The survey and methods have been employed on a Confidential basis in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Norway.

Theoretical basis:

Within the primary magnetic field exists random occurring impulses of energy (Transient Impulses). The number of impulses is related to the strength of the secondary magnetic fields that exist over an oil or gas reservoir. Impulse count rate increases of greater than 200 have been measured over an accumulation, the P-TEM (Passive Transient Electromagnetic) measurement. At present, the source of these random occurring impulses is speculative. It is widely believed that the impulses are related to lightning activity around the Earth. However, regardless of source the existence of random occurring impulses is recognized.

Although other phenomenon such as unknown mineral deposits excessive out gassing etc.; may adversely affect the result, the survey has been correct in its ability to target hydrocarbon reservoirs, on land and over the sea.
